Marbeso Wines and Condor’s Hope are the first featured partners for our summer Wine Dinner Series! It’s only right that our inaugural event is with our local dry-farming vineyard, Condor’s Hope, and their vintner, Colin McNany, of Marbeso Wines. The wines poured with dinner will take guests on a journey across small-farm, small-batch vineyards from sea to chapparal. Taste the coastal influences of Santa Barbara, the terroir of the Santa Rita Hills, and the distinct dryland of the Cuyama Valley. It’s all in the name—Marbeso, of course, means “kiss of the sea” and Condor’s Hope, references the protected high desert habitat of the once-nearly extinct California Condor in Cuyama.
A six-course menu crafted by our very own Chef Hugo Vera will complement the wines and, the next afternoon, guests will have the opportunity to visit the vineyard at Condor’s Hope and explore their varieties while looking out over rows of grapes and rolling foothills.
Colin was taught by Steve Gliessman, of Condor’s Hope, at UCSC and has kept a close connection with his mentor, continuing as the winemaker for Condor’s Hope today. Their long relationship reminds us that the company we’re in today can become our community for a lifetime.
wild flour celebration
Each spring we welcome the beautiful bloom of wildflowers and native flora that brings the Cuyama Valley to life. Join us for our fifth annual Wild Flour Celebration — where we bring together our two favorite things, flower and flour, for a weekend of good food, slowing down, and celebrating the Hidden Valley of Enchantment.
