ON THE ROAD
As an iconic roadside stop, located on State Route 166 in between Santa Maria and Bakersfield, we are honored to be a part of the road-well-traveled community. Our historic property has hosted car clubs and rallies for lunches, dinners and stays throughout our history and we are thrilled to continue this tradition.
No matter where you’re coming from the drive to Cuyama Buckhorn provides an amazing site to see. Whether it be on historic Route 166 or California Scenic Highway 33, the valley offers boundless untouched natural landscape, clear blue skies and glowing sunsets.
Scenic Routes
From the city to us
LOS ANGELES TO CUYAMA VIA LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST
2.5 hours
For a scenic drive through Los Padres National Forest we suggest taking Highway 5 to Frazier Park. From Frazier Park you have two route options to Cuyama. You can either connect to Lockwood Valley Road, which cuts through the national forest and drops you at Highway 33, or you can go through Pine Mountain Club, via Highway 95 (which turns into Hudson Ranch Rd.), where you’ll pass through Bitter Creek National Wildlife Refuge. Once you hit Highway 166, you’ll take a left until you see our big ol’ sign.
CENTRAL COAST TO CUYAMA FROM SANTA MARIA

At the same exit off of Highway 166 as the Santa Maria Raceway, take a right onto Highway 166, passing the beautiful Twitchell Reservoir, until you see Cuyama Buckhorn on your right.
CENTRAL COAST TO CUYAMA VIA OJAI
1.5 hours
Looking for the opportunity to drive State Scenic Highway 33? This is your chance. Take Route 33 from the intersection of Highway 101 at Ventura, all the way until you hit Highway 166 and then take a left and you will see Cuyama Buckhorn 15 minutes down the road on your left.
Fun fact:
Route 33 is one of the only unmarked Scenic Highways in the nation!
SAN LUIS OBISPO TO CUYAMA VIA CARRIZO PLAIN NATIONAL MONUMENT

Take Highway 101 to Highway 58 through Santa Margarita and then continue on Highway 58 to Soda Lake Rd., which will take you directly through Carrizo Plain National Monument. Take Soda Lake Rd. all the way to Highway 166 and then take a right towards Cuyama Valley and we will be on the left-hand side about 15 minutes from the intersection of Soda Lake Rd. and Highway 166.
